So i was cleaning up and noticed a bunch of old guitar strings on my floor… so i gathered them up and rolled them into a circle.. then threw them away. I know.. good story, right? Yeah, I should write a book.
so i know that we’re not technically a band yet, and we don’t have any songs… but i thought since today was a “do nothing except go to church” day, i would go ahead and just make an album cover for “my band” we come from the sea. what do you guys think of the design? don’t worry, i didn’t steal a thing off the internet. i don’t do that. i take my own picture thank you very much! haha
Love myself some good French Pressed Coffee. It’s the best way to make it, and I don’t think I’v had it better any other way, and you have to drink it black, because that way you get to taste the roast for what it really is. I think I’m gonna make some for church next week…it’s so good!
Well, I’m super bummed out that my foot surgery prevented me from going to Island Lake. Sorry to all my friends who were expecting me and calling me to see where I was at haha. I felt loved. Hope all of you are having fun serving campers and the LORD. Oh well, this summer should be good though.
(and sorry fellow followers who are having your news feed cluttered with my random pictures of island lake all skittered about haha)
YOU ARE A TOURIST SONG REVIEW
Many are aware of the new single: You are a Tourist, released from death cab for cutie’s upcoming album: Codes and Keys. With Ben Gibbard (death cab’s front man) claiming that the album will be less guitar centric, it is easily seen that while there is a catchy and rock & roll style guitar part in You Are A Tourist, there is no strumming, just like the rest of the album, as Ben says that he has gone back to the melodies that had first inspired him in the beginning.
The guitar part is definitely catchy and memorable, a real fun song to listen to, especially for a die hard fan of Ben’s work, such as myself. But you also see what Ben refers to when he talks about going back to what inspired him in the start because we see a nice little delayed electric yet soft guitar style in the pre-chorus that is heard frequently in earlier albums such as We Have the Facts and We’re Voting Yes. For many fans, it is sure refreshing to hear a style more focused around their older stuff, yet at the same time advancing and progressing into new styles like they usually do album after album. Oh and the drum part is super catchy. You can dance to it.
Though we see older inspirations in the song, there is one different, yet somewhat dramatic difference in the Band’s lyrical style. Ben has always had a reputation for lyrical ingeniousness, and though I must admit that the lyrics in this song are exceptional, there is a much more up-beat change from the melancholy and “emo” style which is typical to see after so much success on that band’s part, not to mention Ben’s marital status with actress Zooey Dechenal.
The new song from Death Cab is definitely what I would consider to be a good song, and I highly recommend you go out and buy it. This album should probably be redemption from Narrow Stairs.
The sun rose for the first time giving light to the newly created flesh of man. The being arose from his slumber only to be greeted by Royalty. God in His perfect fierceness and a compassionate stands He extends His hand to man. The two walk together, excursions of mountain peaks and the bluest of…
